“ILFA was an eye-opener for me and helped me develop new perspectives and working practices. Partly because of the size of the firm that I was seconded to, it was easy to integrate and learn their work practices. The programme helped me develop a strong professional network, which has become a source for referral work. During the 3 months that I spent with the other secondees in London, together we constituted a united Africa. We assisted each other and shared challenges and solutions from our respective countries. I realised the importance of integration and the potential that unity brings to the continent. We can build on such initiatives in contributing to the sustainable development of Africa

“While it was absolutely brilliant to see the inner workings of leading international law firms and hear partners and associates speak on their areas of strength and practical experiences in Africa, it was also pretty amazing to sit with brilliant minds from other African countries, hear and share thoughts on the different training sessions. That in itself was a great intra-Africa learning opportunity and priceless bit of networking.

“As a secondee, I learned about some of the drivers for and constraints faced by international law firms and how this affects the business. I gained firsthand experience of working in a complex legal environment, as well as a deeper understanding of the challenges within the legal sector. The experience enabled me to broaden and deepen my network.
